Picture Disk Vinyl Sound Quality
This is probably my favorite beatles album and that s saying a lot.
Picture disk vinyl sound quality. I m trying to find out how to identify whether a vinyl i m attempting to buy is a picture disk or not. And what music it is. Many picture discs do sound good. Does anyone know how to id whether it s a normal black record or a picture disk.
To have it in a picture disc with the album cover on display is a hoot. The quality of the picture disc is first class and the surface noise if you re still concerned about it is audible only between tracks and barely audible during the music. Picture disks on vinyls are absolutely horrible. And in some cases if the mastering was handled better for the picture disc release than it was for the standard vinyl pressing the picture disc can sound better despite the downsides.
Clear vinyl picture discs and glow in the dark pressings are more susceptible to poor playback. Picture discs are gramophone phonograph records that show images on their playing surface rather than being of plain black or colored vinyl. Albeit with the hiss still. The records always skip and the sound quality is muffled.
A few exceptions exist. Collectors traditionally reserve the term picture disc for records with graphics that extend at least partly into the actual playable grooved area distinguishing them from picture label discs which have a specially illustrated and sometimes very. Iron maiden and other metal bands due to the usually striking artwork on metal albums have done every album on picture disc only and i must say they are very thick very smooth and sound fantastic. But they have gotten much much better.
